Seven Septillion Pinpoints of Light (forthcoming) began as a song about the stars. Over time the lyric grew and grew to include verses about all 88 constellations recognized by the IAU. Unsure of what to do with such a long lyric, I put it in a drawer for several years.
Returning to it years later, I concluded it wasn’t a song at all, it was a poem.
The number seven septillion, is 7 x 1024 in scientific notation, a 7 followed by 24 zeros. It’s a poetic representation of the number of stars in the observable universe.
